So I came across a box project that you make entirely on the CNC router. I built one, and while it was neat, it didn’t really do it for me as far as the end result. I knew it could be made more realistic, especially if we included some intarsia principles to make each book different. Maple for the pages. Different woods for the covers and spines (in this case it’s cherry, oak, padauk, and poplar).
Around the same time I was designing it, I was asked to do a piece for the town of Clifton Forge for an event where local artists use the new logo and branding in their media. I thought an intarsia inlay on the books might work well.
