I saw a similar project and it made me want to give routering by hand with a template a try. After it exploded, I decided to use the CNC router. Learned a lot from this build (particularly when layering helps and when it adds a ton of work), and the series of boxes that followed were much more efficient.
Woods: Zebra, walnut, cherry, and maple.
